Introduction
As a natural paradise island in the Southern Gulf of Thailand, Ko PhaNgan serves as the perfect getaway retreat, where one may go to relax on quiet deserted beaches, go snorkeling and learn to scuba dive at the distinctive island of Ko Ma, trekking in the footsteps of Thai Royalty at Than Sadet National Park steeped in history and culture, or seeking adventure in the nearby Ang Thong archipelago composed of over 40 islands endowed with pristine beaches, natural caves and a tranquil central lake.

It's the simple beach life which continues to attract visitors each year along with the island's reputation for full moon parties. The full moon party scene still runs with a cast of thousands in high season - all on the beach. The music from the multiple sound systems is mostly ear-splittingly loud trance and house, and a predominantly youthful crowd dance 'til dawn on party nights. This may not be to everyone's taste, certainly, but it's definitely a unique cultural experience. Other events such as the Half Moon Party and Black Moon Party also attract large crowds.

However, it is still possible to visit the island and avoid the full moon party altogether, with dozens of quiet, secluded resorts and beach huts dotted all over the island. Many of the more costly resorts offer such facilities as healthy & natural therapies, spa massage & pampering services and herbal steam rooms.

Sightseeing and Things to Do
Ko PhaNgan is famous for the monthly Full Moon Party at Haad Rin beach. Haad Rin beach is the 24/7 party center of the island with dance parties every night. There are also other parties outside of Haad Rin beach during the month, including Black Moon, Half Moon, etc. Taxis are available to take you to the parties and back to Haadlad Prestige Resort & Spa.
See www.fullmoonparty-thailand.com for details on the schedules for Full Moon Party each month.

Snorkeling and Scuba Diving
Lovers of the water will find plenty of places to explore underwater live coral reefs and tropical fish. The reef at Haadlad is beautiful and was undisturbed for a long time due to the remoteness of the beach from the main town.
The neighboring beach of Mae Haad is also a scenic snorkeling and scuba site. You can get there from Haadlad by longtail boat in five minutes or take a 30 minute walk.
If you are into scuba diving, there are severals other notable diving sites such as Mae Haad, Sail Rock and the AngThong National Marine Park. The island hosts many affordable diving schools which teach diving. Many diving schools offer diving instruction in the major European languages.

Kayaking
You can kayak around the one kilometer bay by Haadlad or visit neighboring beaches, weather permitting.

Fishing
Try some fishing with the experienced captains at the local fisherman's village-you will never forget it! All the fishing gear and lunch are provided on board. And don't forget whatever you catch, our chef will cook it all for you at our BBQ corner at the Haadlad Prestige Resort & Spa.

Elephant Trekking
There are a few Elephant camp on Ko PhaNgan and yes, you can experience the joy of riding your own Elephant in Ko PhaNgan. Don't forget to bring a couple of bananas with you!
